Lab Report: Dragon [Spicy Chile Bitters]
Purpose: To add spiciness to a cocktail without the need for muddling peppers.
Outline: Usually 0.75mL-3.75mL (1 to 5 droppers) is added to a drink, varying based on other ingredients and total drink size. Each dropper has mL increments listed on it for accuracy and precision with every cocktail.
Experiment: Tested with hot chocolate, hot toddies, margaritas, the Bloody Mary, the michelada, the Last Word, the Manhattan, mezcal Manhattans, old fashioneds, Moscow mules, whiskey sours, gin sours, vodka sours, rum sours, the Negroni, gin rickeys, punches, the Bee’s Knees, gin & tonics, gin martinis, chocolate martinis, lemon drop martinis, rum & coke, the French 75. Three drops on an oyster is an exceptional addition.
Observations: Dragon adds a crisp, clean, well-balanced spiciness to all drinks listed under experiment, and many more untested.
Data: Dragon is a 50% abv solution of water, alcohol, four types of chile peppers, two unprocessed sea salts, lime peel, lemongrass, and bay leaf. Sample and full size bottles are available. The full size bottles will last 25-80 cocktails.
