The Mojito

The Mojito

from $30.00

For the true lover of the Mojito, this is a five-bottle multipack in either 0.5oz sample size or 2oz full size bottles of the following bitters:

Unicorn [Citrus]
Gremlins’ Glory [Ginger]
Hummingbird [Lavender]
Goblins’ Treasure [Lime]
Dragon [Spicy Chile]

Riskin’s Mojito Recipe is as follows:

muddle: 3-5 mint leaves (optional: muddle fresh fruits with a lot of juice and soft flesh, such as peaches, plums, bananas, melons, pineapple, berries, perhaps even cucumbers or tomatoes!)
1.5oz clear rum (2oz for extra strength)
0.75oz freshly-squeezed lime juice
0.75oz sugarcane (turbinado) syrup
1.5-3.75mL (2-5 droppers) mix & match Riskin’s Bitters
3oz soda water

Combine the mint and other muddling fruit into a shaking tin, with the lime juice and syrup. Muddle until the juice runs out of the fruit. Add the rum, the bitters - remember, you can always add more, but you can never take away - and some ice, shake vigorously, and dump into a Collins glass. Top with soda water. Garnish with a sprig of mint, thrice slapped (to bring out the aromatics), and a lime peel, wheel, or wedge, and maybe a straw.

- sugarcane (turbinado) syrup - combine equal parts sugarcane and hot water. Agitate until fully dissolved. Will keep for up to four weeks if refrigerated.
- Shaking tin - a common type of vessel used for vigorously homogenizing liquids, usually stainless steel or a combination of stainless steel and glass, used by professional bartenders for shaking drinks.
- dump - Dumping the entire contents of the shaking tin into your glass, without straining out the ice or other ingredients.
- Collins glass - a glass that is tall in height like a pint, but whose diameter does not change.
- Thrice slapped - Slapping herbs will make them react, enhancing their aromatics. Try this before adding as a garnish.
